Prominent or
protruding ears may contribute to a negative self-image. For
children, it may lead to teasing and social embarrassment.
Repositioning the ears is a relatively painless procedure and
requires little recovery time. It is performed under local
anaesthesia with mild sedation.
In children,
it is best performed at about the age of six. Post-operative
care is simple and consists of wearing a protective headband
during sleep for up to three months.
